The Starlight Xpress UltraStar PRO Monochrome Imaging/Guide Camera features a high-resolution 2/3" Sony ICX825AL ExView2 monochrome CCD sensor that delivers up to 1392 x 1040 resolution and 75% quantum efficiency across the entire visible spectrum. This compact camera (31.75mm diameter x 85mm long) is powered through a mini-USB connection, making it excellent for mobile setups and remote field operation. Using Starlight Live software, the camera can take a series of short exposures and automatically stack them together to form an equivalent long exposure shot with enhanced details, while also serving as an outstanding autoguider when paired with compatible control software. Although the chip is not cooled, it has a very low dark signal and very little readout noise, allowing it to guide on faint stars that are well beyond the reach of webcams and most CMOS chip-based cameras.
