The Rainbow Robotics RST-300 is a revolutionary equatorial mount featuring strain wave (harmonic drive) technology that provides high torque in a compact package with essentially zero backlash. This dual-mode German equatorial/Alt-azimuth mount can hold 30kg of equipment without counterweights (50kg maximum with optional counterweights) while weighing only 8.5kg, making it ideal for portable astrophotography and remote observatories. The RA axis features a built-in brake system that prevents the mount from drifting when powered off, and integrated WiFi connectivity allows smartphone control via SkySafari while a built-in GPS receiver automatically captures observer position and time.
