The Astro-Physics 1600GTO is an observatory-grade German equatorial mount with a payload capacity of 220 lbs, manufactured and assembled in the USA, and individually tested to exceed a periodic error specification of 5 arc seconds. Built from the ground up as a precision imaging platform, the mount remains user-friendly while delivering the accuracy needed for demanding astrophotography work. Its large adjustable latitude range of 0 to 78 degrees eliminates the need for a wedge, and it uses a high-quality Swiss DC servo motor controlled by microprocessor to an accuracy of 0.05 arc-seconds per step. The mount is available in three versions: standard, with standard-temperature absolute encoders (1600GTO-AE), or with extended-temperature absolute encoders (1600GTO-AEL).
