The Epsilon 160ED is specifically designed for exceptional astrophotography with a 160 mm aperture and 530 mm focal length that provides a well-corrected flat field for full-frame imaging sensors. Takahashi's proprietary optical design features a hyperbolic, concave primary mirror with a 2 element corrector lens to eliminate spherical aberration and coma, with chromatic aberration reduced by half compared to conventional Schmidt camera designs. The ultra-fast f/3.3 focal ratio enables shorter, more efficient exposure times, while the ED glass corrector achieves spot images within 3 μm, making it ideal for wide-field imaging of nebulae and galactic structures with modern CMOS and CCD cameras.
