The iOptron HEM27EC is a counterweight-free harmonic mount head weighing just 8.15 lbs that supports up to 29.7 lbs of equipment and includes a high-resolution RA encoder, offering real-time periodic error correction accurate enough to make guiding optional for many setups. The RA axis is driven by a strain wave gear system that eliminates backlash and improves torque efficiency, with a compact drive system allowing for a 360-second gear period ideal for long exposures and narrowband imaging. The HEM27EC comes standard with iOptron's iPolar electronic polar scope, which provides fast and accurate polar alignment from anywhere on Earth—even if Polaris is obscured by buildings, trees, or light pollution, saving time and increasing alignment accuracy. The mount includes the Go2Nova 8409 hand controller with an object database of over 212,000 celestial objects, with USB and Wi-Fi connections for full integration with PC or mobile software platforms including ASCOM, INDI, SkySafari, and iOptron Commander.
