The SBIG STC-428-P is a high-performance scientific CMOS photometric imaging system designed for astronomical photometry and astrophotography. It features a 7.1-megapixel Sony IMX428 sensor with 78% peak quantum efficiency and significantly lower read noise (2.5 e- typical) compared to traditional CCD cameras, along with 20x faster readout speeds. The integrated 8-position filter wheel accommodates standard 36mm unmounted filters or common 1.25" UBVRI filters via included adapters, and includes innovative StackPro in-camera stacking capability that automatically combines up to 16 sub-exposures for enhanced dynamic range without excessive data storage requirements. SmartCooling active temperature regulation maintains sensor stability to within 0.1°C for reliable photometric measurements.
